Help Support the Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Written by David Golbitz, Posted in Social Justice

With Temple Israel partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build a new house in North Omaha, it seems like the perfect time to mention the Habitat ReStore, a discount home-improvement store that offers new, used and surplus building supplies like doors, windows, tools and paint at 50-70 percent less than retail cost.

Open to the public, Habitat ReStore is located at 1003 S. 24th Street in Omaha, with a second location set to open August 10th at 10930 W. Maple Road.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The ReStore accepts donations from contractors, individuals and local area businesses. Donations can be dropped off or pick-ups can be arranged if you're unable to make it to the store yourself.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the ReStore goes toward funding Habitat for Humanity. In 2009 alone, the ReStore raised enough money to build three and a half houses in the Omaha area.
