Cantor’s Classroom

Shalom and welcome to Temple Israel’s website for ALL THINGS CHANTED. This is primarily a tool for our B’nai Mitzvah students, but of course adults are also welcome!

You will find here many  of the B’rachot (blessings) for the Shabbat morning service. Some prayers are read only due to multiple possible musical settings and/or  copyright issues. There are some Shabbat evening blessings as well. Each blessing audio file is accompanied by a translation and transliteration of the prayer to assist you in learning.

Torah & Haftarah
I am using the trope (cantillation) of Binder/Schleifer learned at Hebrew Union College during my cantorial studies. The entire Torah has been chanted, plus all the Haftarot that go with each parsha (weekly reading); additionally you will find here the Haftarot for the chagim (Torah holidays) and the other special days. I have also chanted the Torah in High Holiday trope for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
