On Tuesday, May 6, Temple Israel is hosting “Holy Smokes!,” a men’s only night of cigars, wine and camaraderie. Rabbi Aryeh Azriel will even be on hand to share a little Torah study.
This event, sponsored by the Men of Reform Judaism, is meant to be “relaxing and informal,” according to Spencer Brookstein, who has helped plan the evening.
“It’s going to be a great night of fun, philosophical camaraderie,” said Jon Meyers, who has also been involved in the planning.
“We’re going to sit outside, enjoy the weather, enjoy each others’ company and have philosophical discussions about the Torah,” Meyers said. “We’d like it to have the same sort of vibe as the last few minutes of episodes of Boston Legal, when William Shatner and James Spader would sit at the end of the day and philosophize.”
Rabbi Azriel will discuss the relationships between men and women with a study session titled, “Love, Sex and …”
“Holy Smokes!”, which is from 7-9 p.m. on May 6, is a free event, courtesy of MRJ, though reservations are required by Friday, May 2. Contact the Temple Israel office to RSVP, 402-556-6536 or RSVP@templeisraelomaha.com.
The cigars are being provided by Safari Cigars and Lounge.
