With Rabbi Aryeh Azriel’s retirement in June 2016, Temple Israel will begin a new phase in the life of our congregation. We will be honoring Rabbi Azriel’s service and devotion for the past 28 years to our congregation and we will conduct a process to identify the leadership that will shape the next chapter in our storied history. Temple Israel’s Board of Trustees is committed to guiding the congregation through a transition process that is transparent and inclusive, with the highest level of integrity.

Building on the best practices from the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR), the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and with the full support of our clergy and staff, The Temple Israel Board of Trustees voted unanimously to engage an interim rabbi in 2016-2017. Working closely with the CCAR, Temple Israel’sInterim Rabbi Search committeewill begin its search for an interim rabbi in the summer of 2015.

These pages are designed to engage the Temple Israel community in the transition process and provide information about the role of an Interim Rabbi in a congregation’s transition to a successor Senior Rabbi.

For inquiries about the transition process, please contact transition committee chairs Sally Kaplan and Jane Rips. For media inquiries please contact Temple Israel Executive Director Dennis DePorte.
